i didnt like them on either of mine but they arent really rambo/rhino rug type horses if you get what i mean. They rubbed both of their manes and their shoulders - much better with a weatherbeeta combo stable rug
Our retired horses have about ten different makes between them and without doubt Rambo Rhino and weatherbeeta last the longest. We haven't had a problem with rubbing despite horses wearing them 24/7 for months.
Some don't use legstraps but the tail fillet instead and they seem to self right themselves.
Ive got 2, the older tartan checked one, and a newer version. Had the tartan one for about 6 years, but it looks brand new, will last forever! Only thing is with this 1, the seam is half way up and does rub his mane, saying that he wears it for months! The newer one, the seem isnt on the neck bit, therefore doesnt rub his mane. Really recommend rhino neck rugs, they are fab, and even though quite an expense at first, they will last much much longer than most rugs!
i'd deffo reccomend the Rhino Its such a nice rug! I have all 3 of mine in the Rhino Stable Wug atm and it has not rubbed any of them! Really worth the money IMO
Don't have the stable rhino, but have rambo & rhino turnouts and having also brought a weatherbeeta (once) 3 days and it rubbed my mare bald on shoulder and loins. I personally won't buy anything but Rhinos/Rambos again. That said I do have a Masta Flexi neck stable rug, which is several years old and fab . Think if you find a make of rug that fits your horse, sometimes you are best sticking with that make. Some makes definately fit some horses better.
All my horse have horsware rugs, I wouldn't use anything else! The full necks are great as they keep them really warm and saves putting on extra layers as they don't lose the heat through their neck. They also do wonders for taming the mane without rubbing them, mine always have beautifully flat, tidy manes at the end of the winter! Invested in the heavy weight rhino turnout this year for my old pony and found it has a removable hood which is handy if it does start to rub or if the weather turns milder.
