Ribbon colours in tails

Green is for a young (green) horse

White is for a stallion

I think Dales horses have red, white and blue in theor tails as is tradition but I'm not sure why

Pink just looks pretty

I thought read white and blue was for stallions.

And green as muffinino says - for young/green horse. I take that to mean it might not like other horses going close, might kick, buck rear or be easily startled.

Don't think I've seen any others.

Green : novice or green horse
Blue: stallion

not seen white used-wouldn't show up in a grey tail!

Re: ribbons in Dales, we generally use this so people know we are dales and not fell ponies

any colours can be used. We use dark green, burgundy and silver

I've seen red, white & blue in a stallion, too. I didn't know you could use any colour on a Dales - I was looking to get one when I got T, missed an opportunity of get lengths of purple ribbon there!

Interesting to know the reasons for it, thanks

Think the blue only is probably only for endurance rides ??? this is where I know it from.

Many dales breeders use the red, white and blue ribbons when showing, independant of pony sex. But many, like us have their own personal coulor schemes

Nope blue is for stallion if you have a grey stallion a white ribbon isn't much use until it is too late
