Hi,

I posted a thread a couple of weeks ago to find out about Weltmeyer horses as I was going to see one. Well that had gone but I've met a nice Riccione boy.

He's rising 6 and around 16/16.1. He seems to have a lovely temperament, pretty well schooled and keen to jump although pretty novice. My only concern is that he's quite slight where I'm more used to chunky monkey warmbloods so I'm a bit concerned about his suitability as a true all rounder including lots of hacking and cross country as opposed to just working in a school, and living out for the summer with my other horse.

Am I just worrying unnecessarily?

Does anyone have any experience of this blood line?

Thank you,
Gem

I have one. He looked like a flat racer in build when I bought him nearly a year ago, aged four. With work, he has chunked up like nobody's business and is now an unmistakeable warmblood. Is it possible this one is a late developer too?

Temperament is to die for, by the way. VERY athletic, quick to learn and works with me. If I wanted to cross country I wouldn't doubt mine would be well tough enough. I treat him the same as my IDx hunter.

Don't forget that most top eventers in this country are still pure or nearly pure TBs. His slight build is not really the issue for an all-rounder if you like the rest of him.

Thank you, that's what I wanted to hear. He does look like he could pit a few pounds on and muscle up. He currently looks very much as you described- a flat racer and all legs!
