i have been offered a 5 year old rice beaufort double trailer which hasnt been used much and looks like new for a similar price to a good secondhand ifor 510. which is more likely to hold its value and would you say is the better bet?

I have an Ifor 505 myself. If you go on the manufacturer's websites you will see for yourself that the Ifor 510 has dropped less than the value of the Rice has.

What I am trying to say in a very roundabout way is that Ifor's hold their value more.

I can't tell you anything about Rice trailers as I've never had one.
 
true, and the ifor i have my eye on is only a year old, although has been used as much as the rice. Such a dilemma! Thankyou for your help!
 
thankyou, whats the suspension like on the new ones? The only experience I have of them is a very old one a friend has, although my boy travels very well in it. Also you don't see that many old ifor's around?? It seems so confusing. Thanks again.
 
Rice any day!! I sold a twenty year old rice a couple of years ago for £1000 and it was still going strong. Had at least another 10 years in her and probably more.

IWs are easier to move by hand as they are much lighter, but this also makes them easier to steal. I suppose you have to weigh up your towing vehicle and reversing skills!

Rice give a really smooth ride too and are smooth to tow.
 
thanks! the towing vehicle's dad's farm hilux so its fairly good. I'm ok at towing but yet to do a test so hopefully dad will be driving us for the time being. Thanks again.
 
When we bought ours, my dad towed it and the womans NEW ifor williams....guess which he prefered?! the RICE!! LOL! the woman agreed that it was much better than her ifor, but she needed one that her 17.2hh could front offload on!!

RIDE anyday, since having one I wouldn't buy anything else (well except a lorry!)
 
LOL mixed reactions then! I'm in love with my Ifor, far and above prefer it to the old Rice we had, and miles above the Bateson IMO.

ifor's are lightweight and therefore not as "substantial" than say a rice richardson..or indeed a wessex..

i like the rice as it is not rattly and tends to feel to be "on the road"..

the ifor are popular...the name is well known..

personally i think they give a horse/pony an uncomfortable and unstable ride..hence MANY posts on here about poor travellers..
