Is it me or has the unbelievably mild autumn given rise to really rich pasture? My horse has become hysterical and I don't like it! It struck me today that maybe the grass is much richer than it usually is at this time of year because it's been so warm (We only had our first frost here a couple of days ago) The horses have just moved onto the winter fields and ordinarily the grass there is quite poor, but my horse's behaviour has deteriorated ever since.

I agree - all the horses in our field have got fatter this autumn than they did all spring/summer!!

And they have all gone bonkers!!

We'll be moaning when there's no grass left though :(

One of my cobs has become way too large in just three weeks and so has had to move into my "slimming paddock" with a trickle net ... The grass is still too good! Another, I've just had to split his small paddock in half again !

Yep. The ponies are still living in their 'fat paddock' almost 24/7 (they have an hour or so on the good grass each the morning). Usually by this time the grass would have dropped off and they'd be out with the big boys. We did have a sprinkle of snow last night though so I think the mild weather is over!

Im soooooooooooooo pleased we still have good grass! Quite happy for my TB mare to pig out (if that's possible) get the extra weight on now!
