Had a lesson yesterday and my trainer was poo picking and said there was blood in his droppings.
I couldn't see anything personally as it wasn't red.
Anyway over this cold spell we have been feeding haylage and the poo has been pretty acidic.
Is there a connection here?
The next pile of droppings provided after he was loaded were completely normal.
On rough hay now.
Opinions please.

If his poo has been acidic (query - how do you now?) perhaps that has irritated his bowel lining ? Only guessing, I am sure others will have a better idea than me

Hi, NAF has produced a purpose made supplement to counteract the affects of haylage on the horses gut. It talks of soothing the gastric acids in the gut. All mine are on haylage and I must admit 2 are rather 'loose' and I suspect 1 may walk his box at night due to the messy bed and they suggest this is a symptom of an uncomfortable gut. Whether it could cause bleeding I am unaware. Thought this might help
