does anyone have any experience of him? I am just thinking ahead for a youngster I plan to have - I will need someone to help me get things started in the right way.
What's his style like?

Yes... feel free to PM me any questions you may have!

I have used him several times on a variety of horses, including a youngster

thanks, i'm just wondering if he might be a bit too 'natural horsemanship' for me in style. I'm not one for using special headcollars etc.

i quite like Richard maxwells approach, he does have a forum so you can see diaries of horses he has there and can see what hes doing..

Michael peace is great too, would love to send mine there, but unfortunately i cannot afford around £600 a week..lol

Totally and absolutely agree. Michael Peace is excellent. Richard Maxwell I wouldn't touch. I had a long conversation with MP when he came out to deal with my horse. He was a really nice man, was in no hurry to leave and we chatted for ages. I wouldn't use anybody else.

Can you tell us why you wouldnt touch Richard Maxwell?? Is it a personal experience??

I used him and he didn't get the results I hoped for. Horse is very complicated, he didn't do anything detrimental and I expect the method he used helps some people and horses BUT IME, poor value for money. People with loading problems seem to swear by his methods, my horse's problem is ridden.

I don't have personal experience of Richard Maxwell. My comment is based purely on the fact that I personally don't like the join up process and I don't like pressure halters and other methods used by the likes of Richard Maxwell. Monty Roberts etc. I've seen that horses can be worked (day to day handling or dealing with problems that have arisen) without these techniques. If you don't mind these methods then Richard Maxwell is ok for you. It's individual choice of course. But I don't believe he has real skill and understanding of the horses mind and how they think.

Max is a lovely guy and a very talented horseman, very easy to talk to and really interesting to watch.

I'm sorry to hear that kvs didn't get the results hoped for, how many sessions did he have with your horse??? some issuse will take much longer than others to work on. xxxx
