Hi guys! I'm due to show my horse (appy x cob) in 2 weeks and need some advice. I used to show years ago but now we just show jump. My issue is is that his mane is ultra thick and falls to the wrong side and won't stay on the correct one. Should I plait it up on the wrong side or better to just leave it? I'll be doing a WH class and a ridden class in which he can go in hunter, hack, riding horse or sports horse. He's definitely not a hack or riding horse so would he be a hunter or sports horse?

Thanks for your help!

I would say he is more a hunter, he looks to have nice bone, just trim his feather is he still has them.

It is correct to plait for both WH and Hunter classes so you will need to pull the mane and plait it, ideally on the off side but if it really won't go over the near side will be fine! You can just pull the tail if you prefer

Enjoy your little adventure, he looks really smart.

It's very easy to plait a mane that sits on the wrong side, over to the correct side. At most a couple of days prep will be needed to wash it, plait it over to the correct side etc. Obviously after it's been pulled and thinned :)
