Morning All,

Hope someone can help me!

Looking to enter a working hunter showing competition in January, but not sure which class (if any!) is most suitable! The horse I'll be taking (my loan horse) is a 16hh KWPN Bay Gelding.

The classes I've seen are Intermediate Show Hunter Type (But I dont think I can enter as Im 27) someone please correct me if Im wrong.

Open Riding Horse

Open Ridden Hunter

Sports horses and Irish Drafts. (Would he be classes as a sports horse being a warmblood? Or is it just for Irish Sports Horses?)

Sorry, Ive mainly been in the SJ world most of my life but taking a little venture into other areas :) He's got a full clip, but his legs and Half face are left, does this matter? Should I give him a complete full clip for the show? I know we have to be plaited up for our classes.

Here's the only pic I can find on my PC at present! Sorry its rubbish!

Intermediates are out as yes you are too old and horse is too big (up to 158cm for intermediates). Is it an affiliated show and are there no novice classes?

This sounds like an affiliated showing show-

You would need to be member of the appropriate body- or overstamped horses passport at very least for the sports class.

Might be worth having a look at what else is on at the show as im not sure those classes may suit.

From the photo he looks more riding horse than hunter. Is the Sports Horse and Irish drafts one class? Unless it is affiliated and they have to belong an association then Sports Horses wouldn't be restricted to a breed. I used to do them with a chunky TB.

HI

Its Unaffiliated, No Novice classes in the 'showing show' only Novice Working Hunter Jumping Classes at 80cm and 90cm. Doesn't seem to be any restrictions on those just height over 153cm and rider over 14yrs so I might do one of those on the Saturday, then a showing class on the Sunday.

Riding horse class just says - Open Riding Horse, mare or Gelding, 4yrs and over, any height, rider any age.

Ridden Hunters - Open Ridden Hunter, mare or gelding, 4yrs and over, exc. 153cm, rider any age.

Sports Horse and Irish Drafts - Doesn't say anything else but that! Assume he could do that class being a warmblood, hes got good bone etc.

Just not sure which one is more suitable!

Thanks guys :)

Ok well generally the hunter and riding horse would be ridden my the judge and sports you wont.

Sports horse just needs to be athletic and move well

Good luck!

Thanks guys! Think I'll enter in the ridden horse and sports horse class then by the sounds of it.

Now I just have to get his mane and tail sorted out in time, its so untidy :)

Ridden horse is any horse under saddle. Riding horse is a specific type.
Horse is too big and you are too old for intermediates.
I personally would stick to the sports horse class.
What show is it? Maybe we could have a look at the schedule to see if there are any others that would suit.
