Im meant to be having a go at a ridden hunter class at the weekend. But having never done it, I dont know what to expect :S
Is this "appropriate dress" and do I need white gloves?

My instructor has shown me a short "show" to do. Just don't know what else to expect :s

Ideally turnout should be (top to bottom)

Hat - velvet navy or brown
Jacket - Hacking
Gloves - Brown (leather)
Jods/Breeches - beige
Boots - long, spurs worn.
Show Cane rather than whip
Tack - Brown (double bridle) No saddle cloth/alternatively a fitted numnah the same colour as the saddle.
No boots etc, horse should be trimmed and plaited, with preferably a pulled tail.

However, for a local ridden hunter, you would be ok with what you are wearing, perhaps get some darker gloves, and use a numnah instead.

You will need a dark pair of gloves to match your jacket (brown/black…even navy will be fine if its local level)

Don’t use a square saddle cloth, use a numnah that is closely cut to your saddle ,your girth will be fine.

Hair net, then tied back in a dark coloured scrunchie type bobble.

Shirt and tie, white shirt will be fine, although a pale blue or cream/yellow one will look smarter, with a tie (something that goes with your jacket but nothing too loud) say a nice blue spotted tie with a tie pin.

Cut your ribbon at the front of your jacket and tuck it in so its not flying about and you can also cut the number down a bit (the corners) so its fits into the small of your back, just looks neater.

Those colour jods will be fine.

Good luck :)

now - this was NOT expensive btw ;)
hat - old hunting hat - ideally should be blue - looking at blue 2nd hand on on ebay just now ;) you could just put a black velvet over yours and secure the two peaks together - i've seen that being done ;) and can look fine if you take a bit of time doing it ;)
gloves - cheapie brown pimple ones - couple of ££'s would be fine :) mine are borrowed lol! i'll buy leather ones eventually
bridle - 2nd hand £30 - but yours is fine :) if you do have a cavesson that would be better though :)
no numnah or saddle shaped brown one
my saddle is technically incorrect but HRH demands M2M and i just can't afford another lol :o yours looks ideal though :D
shirt - M&S £9 i think - it's a cream colour ;)
tie - M&S again!
jacket - freebe from friend lol! need to get a new one at some point as a bit short but will do us for now ;) ideally you want tweed but if you haven't got one don't worry ;)
cane - few ££'s 2nd hand from ebay - but not essential
no boots (on horse lol!)
other than that - trim, plait up - get come baby oil/show sheen to make him shine and have fun :D

its local level so you will be fine, try to get some darker gloves.if you get the bug you need a tweed jacket and shirt and tie for correct turnout.do the show i showed you and enjoy

You need a tweed jacket, can you borrow one if you havent got one?

You also need a nummnah not a saddlecloth, preferably brown.

If you are doing the novice class then a snaffle bridle is fine, if doing the open class you will need a double bridle.

No boots on horse, and you need dark coloured gloves.

Can you put a velvet cover over your hat? will look a million times better :)

Enjoy! :)
