I would like to enter my hunter for a showing class at our local agricultural show but they only have Ridden Hunter and it is not split in to the different types. Can you enter any type for this, my horse is only 15h2 will he look out of place in this class?

I have no clue, but will happily give you a bump and see if someone who knows about this stuff wanders in some time soon. I have been doing some googling as I'm also thinking of venturing into a hunter class. I'd read the schedule as some that I've seen will say what the position is on height/type. If not then I'd assume you'll be fine.

Yeah same as above, if it's not stated then your probably ok, but if in doubt ring the show secretary to clarify :).

If the schedule says Ridden Hunter, it will be a mixed class but may be so!it on the day, if there is a huge entry. If in doubt, it is always best to speak to the Secretory

Thanks I thought it would probably be mixed but wasn't sure if that included Small Hunters or just light, med and heavyweight hunters, in which case he'd look a bit mini in comparison! I will email the secretary to check.

Only the County shows will have weight classes in addition to Small, Novice, Local and Ladies.

At unaff shows, riding club and country type shows you are more likely to see a novice and an open hunter class, possibly a small. I attd a nice local show yesterday the hunter was an open class and had a right mix of types in it.

I would check with the Secretary, Open Hunter classes dont always include Smalls! We made this mistake many years ago when we first started out :)
