I have recently been told that I cannot jump (at all) or hunt (often) my 20yr old chestnut TB

<font color="purple"> </font> but I was thinking about doing some showing on him, perhaps ridden hunter or veteran.

I was wondering if anyone could help me by telling me how to present the horse and rider (tack and turnout) and how i could do my own little show in the class at walk, trot and canter.

He'll be fine in either class. I regulary do both with my 23 yr old TB!

Horse - RH - double bridle if he goes in one. If not then usual bridle &amp; bit but no martingale. Plain numnah &amp; overall workmanlike appearance. Veteran - same.

Rider - Tweed jacket, white/cream shirt, tie, beige breeches, long black boots, brown gloves &amp; velvet covered hat will suffice for both.

Individual show - walk trot &amp; canter on both reins - figure of eight will do nicely - plus gallop in the RH &amp; either gallop/extended canter in the Veteran.

Can I just add that at some shows ridden hunters will not do an individual, this usually happens when the judge rides. Thre is a go round in walk trot and then canter and that is follows by a gallop - usually down the long side on the arena only. After that horses line up, judge rides, then stripped for trot up + conf assessment and then tacked up again, rider back on, brief walk round and then line up for you to collect your red rosette!
 
Hey no probs - I was recent judging a ridden class and was chased afterwards by an irate Mum who told me that her daughter had been working for 3 weeks and had had x number of lessons to get the 'display' right so why didn't I let her do it.... oops! 1 unhappy Mummy! PS horse came 3rd!

Hi ya, just another addition! If you are doing veterans, under the veteran horse society rules, there is strictly no extended canter/galloping and this will be marked down! So watch out for that one!!
