i am now schooling a shetland for a friend, he is really whizzy but goes around with his hea in the air, so i was thinking that i would put some drawreins on so that all the enrgy he uses means i can get him on the bit without having to kick on so much as he is so wizzy, what do you all think?
also he tucks his head onto his chest so i was thinking of maybe putting him in a gag to lift his head? if i use a 3 ring gag which ring do i put the drawreins thru?

I would suggest there is a reason he rushes with his head in the air, like pain!! how big are you? he may not be happy carrying person larger than a small child, strapping his head down is not the answer. Draw reins to pull his head down but a gag to lift it, does anyone else see the problem in this? please give him to someone more experienced than yourself if you don't see the trouble in what you have suggested!

Stroppy I think it's a joke ;)
But don't worry about the lack of breaks just put your feet on the ground that should slow it down

I wud rid him in a standing martingalel too that will stop the little booger.

Of course your not too heavy for him -I ride my miniature (I weigh 16 stone) in a pelham on one rein with a standing AND draw reins - as he is so close to the ground I dont bother with a hat either but I do wear a bp

I think you do get faults still sorry but instead you must swing your legs so far back they meet at the back of the saddle :D

Like Annette Lewis? ;) ooo yeah sanolly impersonate top riders and you will be fine- i often pretend im lucinda green...but then i get hungry and i have to eat and i remember im a tad more lardy than she is?:)

LOL damn been busted! Yes Stroppy this is a wind-up, it was a dare from the "Truth or Dare" thread in soapbox. At least I can go back to using fairly decent grammar and spelling, although I have actually 'ridden' my friends Shetland
