Hi all,

Hoping for a little insight into what to expect at the express eventing at Bishop on 29th Aug. Has anyone done this before at Bishop? Is it indoors or outdoors? I'm tempted to pop down the day before to have a sneaky peak!

Any info would be great! :D

Oh-so it is going ahead?! I was under the impression from the website it was supposed to be on the 17th of July, got all excited to enter but then couldn't get any sort of reply from any of the several people I contacted about the entry process since nothing was made clear... Then it just seemed not to take place!

Wish I could enter now but I have no transport available sadly :(

Hey!

Yes it's going ahead but yes I found the entry process confusing - easy using the Equo site but then I noticed something about registering to compete... so I queried that as it just took you to Norton Disney and the lady said that when entering it automatically registered me.

I also can't find a link to the rules anywhere on the website so I'm going with BE rules and hoping that's right!

Hoping it'll be a great day as it sound really fun - they're using the international outdoor arena then jumping out onto the XC training field for the XC phase and back into the arena to complete the joker.

I'd offer to pick you up on the way but I'm afraid I can only tow one :( x

Oh, and this may be a little more useful as a reply lol:
Not sure if you've been to Bish before, but I'm a student there so know the venue quite well. I'd assume that at least the jumping elements would take place in the International, which is a massive outdoor. Forgive me if you already know this!! I know that JAS comps are usually in the BBA (big indoor) but I think that's weather dependent. The facilities are brilliant. You've probably seen the portable cross country jumps which are great, plus in the International there are fence panels which can be removed to reveal the 'benches' beneath them are actually jumps in and out of the arena. Unsure if these would be used though, as that would mean going out onto the smaller cross country track and I think that usually with EE all the fences are in one arena. I know that the dressage for the BE is held on grass, but there are at least another 4 arenas within close proximity to International where it could also be held. Hope this helps!! If you have any more questions about the campus or facilities just ask :)

Oh wow just saw this reply!! I was wrong about the training track then! The fences are all really friendly on there. It does look like a load of fun... And don't worry about the lift! Chilli will be happy to not have to pack her sack of potatoes rider around another competition :D

If you enter I hope it all goes brilliantly!!! Post a report!! :p

Don't worry about spamming! so so helpful thanks :D

Ah amazing thanks,... seems Norton Disney are much more on it than Bishop or the Express Eventing site!

Well this is the email I received from a lady from the Express team:

Good Evening Alex.

Thank you for your enquiry. I am delighted that you will be taking part in the Ride away Endeavour Express Eventing competition at Bishop Burton on 29th August.

It promises to be a great day as they will be utilising their cross country training track which if you know the venue, is adjacent to the International Arena 50m x 90m Martin Collins surface, so riders will jump directly from the show jumping onto the cross country phase and then back into the arena to complete. They will certainly be making the most of the facilities which include water amongst a variety of other questions, so spread the word to all of your friends!

Entering via Equo will ensure your registration for Bishop Burton, but do let me know if you have any problems. I shall also check from this end that your entry has been received.

Thank you for your interest in the competition and I look forward to seeing you at Bishop Burton.

Kind Regards.

Jill

So presuming this means the training track? I'm really looking forwards to it - hoping my pony is feeling bold though as he has a tendency to err on the side of caution and silly spookiness sometimes! I'll post a report on how we did :)

I also used to study at Bishop but long before they updated the Equine facilities, although I'm there regularly jumping BS so know the facilities quite well but your help has been amazing!!!!!! :D Thanks you so much x

Pleased to see this thread, just entered today. For anyone still thinking about having a go closing date for entries has been extended to the 21st.

alexmahoney - have you downloaded the test yet? Haven't seen the tests anywhere on the website yet.

I know I'm gutted. Sadly not enough people entered for it to go ahead - sucks because it will probably put them off putting something like this on again when it'd be SUCH a good venue to start doing this type of thing more often.
