Just wondered what people's recommendations are for a ride on fly rug please. Poor Breggey got loads of horse fly bites today, bless her, and I thought this might be a good option? Size wise she's a 16.3 ID.

Thanks!

I got mine from Kramer; it's great, kept us hacking last year when I thought we'd have to give up.
It's a bit on the small side though, next time I'd order a size up

Great, thank you. Just dawned on me though - how do you do a running martingale with one of these on! Hmmm.....

I have a bucas one, which gives mine plenty of movement (he'd be a similar size to yours at a guess, with a big shoulder and chunky neck). A martingale would be easily accommodated with mine - there's a gap between the chest and the bottom of the neck piece :)

Great, thank you - out of interest which one did you get please?

I used a lightweight standard fly rug (Amigo bug rug I think - it's silver with blue binding!) and butchered it. At the time you couldn't get ride on fly rugs for Exmoor sizes. I simply cut a slit from the front to the back of the saddle area and stitched. I feed the flaps though it, after putting saddle on first. Never had an issue with that and I get belly coverage, too. Haven't had sweat problems, but I am on the look out for another more lightweight rug, more because the cosmetics of the first are flippin awful and it's stained with neem oil.

Just wanted to thank you for your help. I bought Breggey a Bucas Buzz-Off rug and was really brave and got the zebra one - she looks fantastic I think and we definitely got some double takes by people driving past lol! She only had 1 bite which was just behind my leg on her tummy but apart from that we had a really relaxed ride and I'd say the zebra pattern definitely works.
