Ride Onto The Bridle

I think this is normally referred to as 'riding on the bit' but I have seen 'on the bridle' in older books on horsemanship. It is generally a way of describing how the horse should work forwards from behind, with softness through the back and neck and carry the energy/impulsion into the contact. Ideally the poll should be the highest point of the neck and the angle of the head should be just in front of or at the vertical. The contact should not be strong as to force or hold the head and neck into position, but the horse should carry itself.

This is as well as I can explain off the top of my head from what I've read/been told! Hope it helps.
