I am disapppointed to hear this news. I now would not like to give pets at home my money, its different when its independent retailers. Are there any other good horse shops in north yorkshire where I can take my business to?

Thanks

Actually they get my vote as one of our local branches is very supportive to Guildford Staffie rescue, so not bad news in my book!

My bro is a director at Pets at Home :D Just had a lovely chat with him today over boxing day lunch about this. I actually think it is exciting news and could prove the best thing ever in the long term....

Please tell them not to stock downmarket stuff like Robbo's and out of stock items :P like our non-favourite DH :)

I'm not confident they will maintain the previously wonderful, reliable service which was Rideaway.

Noooooooo! They need to stock 'downmarket' stuff for those of us like moi that do a lot of things on a shoestring! :o

Well in answer to op's question..there is horse & rider in Sheffield who I always found v helpful / well priced / but with a limited range vs ride away...but as I'm down sarf that's the limit of my knowledge! I can see where op's concerns originate from too...the Derby hse experience was not good!

As long as they don't turn it into another Robbos!?
If the selection of equine stuff they have stocked in Pets over the last 15 odd years is anything to go by then I can't see it being a roaring sucess.
And as for local stores, doubtful as there just isn't the trade.

I picked up the story in the business press before Christmas and mentioned it on twitter - Ride-Away tweeted back "Don’t worry- our fab team of staff aren’t going anywhere, you’ll still receive the same top notch service that you’re used to...rest assured, we’re as dedicated as we have been over the past 32 years to delivering a great service"

I was a bit bemused by the news which came out the day I bought a saddle at Rideaway! But, if they can maintain Rideaway's standards it might just help to inform the rest of the Pets at Home chain about what is useful for riders/horse owners who just want to pop to their local PaH store when they are in a rush. For example, I doubt I'll ever need a plastic curry comb in a hurry but having somewhere local to nip in for fly spray, poultices, vet wrap etc would be great!

That's exactly what I use our local feed merchant for - their 'horse stuff' area is smaller than my little bathroom but stocks all the in-a-hurry essentials inc plaiting bands, gloves, haynets etc.
