I have rider insurance with PetPlan and its got all the usual and I have the booklet infront of me and am looking at it as I type. I just want to know if my thinking is right here as I've been asked to take part in a nativity show.
I am the only one riding/looking after my animal BUT the public will come into my pen for pictures and to pet.
I have third party liability which is the same as public liability and covers for any incidents with people (injuries etc) or damage to property while I am riding - insurance booklet definition of riding includes: riding, driving, leading, mounting, dismounting and handling a horse and travelling in any horse drawn vehicle, so from that I have understood that I am insured for any incident with the public or property while I am either on top of or stood beside my horse... Correct ???
So I'm pretty sure then that if I was stand with my horse and a member of the public came into the pen for a picture and my horse stood on their foot (like they do at times). I would be covered.(minus excess)
I'm not getting paid, the event of the show is going on around me, I'm kinda just a point of interest while the show gets to where I am.
I will call my insurers to check!!!
I just want to be sure I'm understanding it because when they are on the phone, because of their policies I find their never REALLY allowed to say yes or no, they say yes with regards to the policy bla bla if you all get what I mean.
I am thinking of a one off event insurance which is about £50ish so not breaking the bank to be totally protected but I don't want to take it out for no reason if I'm already covered you know.
Has anyone ever done something like this before ???
