Hello I am just wondering who you guys insure with for riding... I know that the BHS have the gold membership thing which I already have but its about to run out and I am looking for a 'proper' insurance company e.g NFU / Shearwater or what ever they are these days..

So I was just wondering who you insure with and what you get covered for and how much roughly also does it cover you for abroad e.g Europe (Germany) ... PM if you prefer

Thanks im going crazy looking for insurance so any help would be great full

BHS are only the "agent" they use SEIB insurance [I think] but you get the best SEIB deal plus the legal helpline, which may be wonderful if you need an answer to a complex Q.
The British Driving Society offer no frills last resort insurance included in the membership about £30.0, not sure about excess.
I did phone SEIB to find out the best deal and I think BHS was pretty good, you can ask them for the best policy for Europe.
I currently have World Horse Welfare, but you don't get a proper policy document and there is a £250 excess, I would want a policy document if in competition.
I am talking public liability which covers you against claims and I think you get an accident policy with BHS as well.

I took out rider insurance in may this year. Searched for ages and ended up with nfu, mainly due to a branch being locla so if they refuse to pay out i can go and bang there door down everyday!!
I am covered for any activity and any horse, i dont think im covered for riding in europe although didnt really check tbh!! It costs me £8 per month which i thought quite reasonable!!
