I've got someone very interested in coming to ride my pony on a regular basis, and ideally they would end up hacking her out. What would you recommend as a good insurance that she can take out personally to give some cover for public liability?

The BHS offer a good and reasonable cost policy when you take out gold membership. You also get other added benefits like the legal helpline, the magazine and cover for personal accident.

Double check your own insurance but mine covers my horses for all 3rd party liability. Legally I am responsible for any damage my horses do, even if under care of someone else or the fault is not actually mine. However my insurance does not cover another rider hurting themselves if they ride my horses so my sharers have their own insurance to cover this.

I have rider insurance rather than BHS cover as it includes more. Eg vet fees if a horse is hurt in my care, tack is covered as well as myself if I injure myself and can't work.

Who have people bought their rider insurance from, if not the BHS?

I'm interested in this topic as well. I don't own a Horse but hack my friend's occasionally.

I was with NFU, however they wouldn't insure me this year as I ride too much (most days). Now with petplan.
I have no experience of claiming with either company.

I've insured my daughter with NFU shes nearly 16 and in the Pony Club but the PC insurance did not cover her to ride an employers horses so i've taken out a separate policy for about £6.00 per month.
