I am 4 months pregnant and am unfortunatly aware that i will be unable to ride very soon, I am looking for a rider to ride my horse, possibly loan him or sell him. He has competed Elem and working close to medium so i would only let him go to someone who would keep up his training. I would consider paying someone to ride him at my yard who could carry on his training. He is stabled in Larkhill, Wiltshire.
I am open to ideas and can be flexible for the right person. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know as i dont want him standing in the field for 6 months!

*wibble* 16.3hh is too big for me, repeat, 16.3hh is too big for me... and I already have a share anyway... dammit!! I hope you find someone

Erm, I'm due in 6 weeks and still riding both my horses (big, dressage jobs, like yours) Do you really need to get someone else to ride him? You might surprise yourself and be able to carry on longer than you think. I haven't found being pregnant has affected my riding yet, was out competing a few weeks ago (managed to bring home a few rozzas) and I'm still having lessons.

I intend to ride until it gets uncomfortable, however long that is, and then they'll have a holiday until I'm able to ride again after the birth. I expect they'll be off for around 6-8 weeks, all being well, but I'm prepared for them having longer off if necessary, but they certainly won't be left standing in the field for 6 months!

My advice to you would be to not rush into anything, if you're happy to carry on riding, do it and see how it goes.

This is my first too, and I panicked at the beginning about how long I'd be able to ride and what I would do with the horses if I had to stop at say, 4 or 5 months pregnant, but I've just kept going and going, and I can honestly say it's been fine. Both horses are still going well, and don't seem bothered at all about the extra weight - but then they are big warmbloods and I haven't put on that much (ehem.)

A horsey friend with kids told me not to panic into sending the horses away or spending a lot of money getting someone else to ride them, just take each day as it comes and see what happens. I was also aware that I need my horses to keep my sanity, and I know I'd have gone mad (and possibly very fat!) if I had stopped riding.

PM me if you want more pregnancy chat! I love it - almost as good as horse chat!
