Hiya I'm in the process of leading up to breaking my 4 year old Cob x TB currently standing at just under 14.2hh my groundwork is all complete so now onto backing but I have a wee problem I'm 5'6 and stocky in build so I'm trying to figure what weight I need to be before even THINKING of getting on his back but I have absolutely no clue can someone help me out cause I'm at a loss never had to worry about this before as my 2 previous boys were 16hh and 17.2hh xx

I backed my 14.1hh cob x connie when I weighed 10.5 stone/5 ft 5 - he had no issues at all with this and am confident he could have taken a little more.

He has matured to 15hh and my partner, who is 5ft 8 and just over 12 stone, regularily rides him with no apparent issues.

Don't know if that helps, but imagine more depends on bone rather than height......
