Ridiculous responses to loan advert...

Now i was expecting a few unsuitable responses when i advertised my pony. I've decided not to loan her after she was very dangerous the other day (she hasn't been like that for a long time and she is probably sore, physio coming on Tuesday but I have decided her extreme reaction to pain is just not worth the possible consequences [she reared twice vertically and almost went over backwards]).

But anyway, so she used to have a serious problem which is 99% gone and before last week she hadn't reared like that for 2-3 years. I havn't gotten round to taking down the adverts yet..I explained the old problems and the fact that she is very fizzy and strong so needs a confident, experienced rider very thoroughly in my advert.

But I have had multiple responses from 12 year old kids who are in their top class at riding school...I can forgive them, I did the same when i was young! Then there is the person who openly admits they are a novice but can walk trot and canter...the mum who wants her for their advanced 12 year old daughter.

But the one I just had takes the biscuit! Not sure if it's true!

They emailed asking if she was still available and who much i would want for her (although she is up for loan/share) and then....would I swap her for a chihuaha?!?!

I'd seen an add on pre loved 'horse wanted 15.2+, will swap for chihuaha'!!

Mind you, considering some horses and ponies, the dog may be worth more than some geegees that are about!

Does make you wonder if people read adverts properly!

There was an add on preloved asking if someone would swap their horse for a chihuahua - there was a post on here about it but can't for the life of me find the link

Best one I had (and it was all in capitals)..... This was in response to my advert for a sharer, absolutely no full loan, not to be moved etc etc.

WHAT IS THE POINT OF THAT? WHY WOULD YOU WANT A SHARE WHEN YOU COULD DO FULL LOAN? I WANT TO MOVE HER TO RUGBY WHEN CAN I PICK HER UP?

Genuine. Read the advert and wanted to pick her up.

Was the Chiuahah (sp?) cute? :o

Ive loaned all my horses out for a year as im relocating but ive a few happy hackers and im not bothered if they go as theyve been great ponies but my ad read for one
For loan
15.2hh aged mare, enjoys hacking, forest rides, beach rides etc. No riding schools, no teenagers or children and ideally she would like a sensible adult owner. She really looks after her riders. If your looking a good weight carrier, something to rally about on this summer , short term loan please dont bother phoning. This mare deserves a home as good as the one shes in, but due to moving and work commitments she is available for loan for one year, tack and rugs included. Thank you :)

Noone rang :( lol

Lol, do you want a chihuahua? :)
I know what you mean though, I put an advert up for my 15.3hh not novice ride, silly spooky gelding and I had people asking if their 11yr old could come and see him. One girl who was 17, obviously lied about how good she was and her cockiness was very short lived. I gave up in the end after a lady come out and then admired she'd only ridden a few times in the past 10 years after she fell off jumping him over a 2ft log in the field.

Haha I remember the add with the Chihuahua, no details on horse required other than size, just 'a horse'.

Yours sounds right up my street moorhill! I was looking for a sensible horse as a second one on loan, but they were all TBs which apparently couldn't carry my immense weight of more than ten stone. Loaning a ten hand pony instead (could probably carry one of my legs).

Yeah my sister thought it was a bit rude but I dont want my horses/ponies in homes theyl be over worked and turned sour ! They are my babies! Shes still available lol but im guessing your in england :( Im Ireland x

Lol I replied saying are you serious and had an email of abuse back accusing me of calling her a monster ect. So i replied saying I didn't say you were a monster, it just seemed a bit odd!
to which she replied saying ok let's start again. I ignored that one, thinking even if I was still looking for someone I wouldn't let you have her if you were the last one on earth after that!

I stated clearly in my ad that horse MUST stay at present yard and will not be moved under any circumstances... 80% of the people who got in touch wanted to take him to their own yard. One tried to make out her yard was only 10 mins away when it would be a good hour in the car... Another wanted to take him back to the yard I had just left under a sizeable cloud... Erm no, it's not a free horse for anyone to drag anywhere they like, and if I wanted rid of him I'd be selling!

So no I don't think people read the adverts!

I had one reply to my ad for my exracer that needs bringing on. They wanted something that they could do once or twice a week, hunter trial from the word go and ...

Had looked after a beautiful palamino arab stallion for 8weeks and had gained many awards with it - in a game on facebook!!!

I thought chinchilla!

I have two Chinchillas, they are marvelous! :D

As regards to loaning, I have been trying to loan out Sandy but I've had minimal interest and I don't know why

The advert is worded well, as basically says that he isn't suitable for a novice (sharp and a little spooky & nervous at times) but is a total lamb to be around (handled by my 70 year old Grandfather daily) and is situated on a yard with every facility imaginable.

Am I missing something?

Even my non-horsey OH laughed at that :D

I would loan your horse at the drop of a hat :p:eek:

Yup, you'll get every psycho, fruitloop and tuned-to-the-moon alien contacting you if you offer anything with four legs up for loan.

I offered my traddie for loan two years ago and was overwhelmed by the insanity of some of the people who rang up; also was gobsmacked by the ability of some people to time-waste, like they ring you up, make an appointment, and then don't turn up, and THEN expect you to be there for them the next day!!!! Grrrh, some people.

So OP you have my intense sympathy. Know/feel your pain!!

My sister's tb is up for share at the moment as she can no longer ride and the number of numpties - the number of people who think that because he's for share they should have him for free, er no - we're not paying all the bills for you to come and ride as often as you want to. He's available on a you can come as many days as you want type thing. Also his ad clearly states he is very green and needs a lot of bringing on but so mnay people have said they want to go and compete right away
