The Caravan of Hope
'The Caravan of Hope' is a charity taking ten French and English young people from disadvantaged homes on horseback from the Camargue in southeast France to London, via Cherbourg and Poole in Dorset.
They set off on May 8th and after covering 1,800 km over six months, are due to arrive in London in September.
This is the third time that Jakki Cunningham, the expedition leader, has organised the ride.
On this expedition she has chosen to use two teams of two draft horses to pull the provision wagons, sourced from Poland.
On arriving in London, the ten horses are donated to Riding for Disabled groups in the UK and France.
Jakki has encountered many taxing problems already en route, including one of the draft horses going lame and having to be replaced.
Unfortunately, these have led to a really frightening deficit in the funds, and readers are urgently requested to consider donating one pound each to the cause.
This is life-changing for the young people themselves, and the true value of the expedition is impossible to assess in terms of lives changed for good.
Please visit the site, watch the short video of the 2008 expedition, and donate one pound to this excellent cause.
