In August this year the Highway Code is to be amended to ban the riding of 2 abreast on roads and to forbid riding on cycle tracks. Although sometimes, I think, riding 2 abreast is a bad idea, there are cases where it is necessary to do so ie. for safety reasons with a young, nervous horse and to be able to ride defensively where appropriate.
Some cycle tracks were originally created for horses and have since allowed cycles on them, to lose the right to ride on these tracks would leave us with even less safe 'bridleways' than we have already.
The BHS is petitioning the Government NOT to include these amendments and would, obviously, be very grateful for as many sigs as poss PLEASE sign!!
