What level of riding competence should one have if they wished to try their hand at a bit of autumn hunting? I've only been riding since may, but my father, who served in the blues and royals, is teaching me at least two hours a week and I'm also having lessons at a very good yard.

Thanks:)

I'd say it depends what the horse you were riding was like, and have you done cross country?
Also, you can go non jumping if you're not comfortable jumping :).

If you are comfortable being with a group of horses, in trot, canter and gallop (and standing around!), have good balance and control of your horse. I would suggest trying some fun rides or cross country for experience. Also contact your local hunt secetary and they may be able to team you up with an experienced person who will help to introduce you to what to expect.
