I tore my ACL and damaged my MCL on 2nd feb (ski hiccup), recovery tipped at about a year After surgery for riding. Have put horse up for sale (only 7yo and likes to 'do', not sit around for a year!) he is going in HHO next week.

I came out of my fixed brace on Monday and now have to get my knee mobile enough for the ACL surgery to repair.

Sat on horse today to see if feels ok ( I have been squatting and lunging anyway to get the joint bending so I can't see the difference ) which it did so am going to go for a short walk out tomorrow just sitting not using my leg, I can't wait.

Any one got ACL stories or advice to share.

I've never been sick or sorry, so have found it quite hard however now the brace is off feels a bit more normal.

Sorry, I'm confused. Have you been told not to ride for a year after ACL surgery? I snapped mine, as well as causing lots of other damage including fractured femur, and surgeon said a max of 3 months off post-op. I got on before then obviously oops!

That is a long time. Once a repair done you should be into physio and its a hard rehab program jumping etc. The mcl if only strained or minor tear will be well on recovery now.
Get yourself to a physio to get correct exercises to strengthen. Even if you have to pay for one session it will be of great help!

Yes was told by doctor and the physio that it will be a year before I can ride...
I had planned to get on prior to that for hacking and just 'sit' on as I can't see the harm in that as long as sensible.
I'm doing physio exercises trying to regain the muscle which has wasted away in my thigh, although now I'm out of the fixed brace it seems stronger every day.

Ansiscool, really? They've been adamant that if I ride before advised I could undo the repair whilst it's healing. I appreciate however that they have to air on the side of caution with their advice.
