What does everyone do , mine had booster done flu only , had saddle check today so only on for ten min then back off again , would u give tommorow off or light school ? I never do anything stenous the few days after

Some react, some don't. I always give them 24 hours off and make sure anything within 48 hours is super easy. Anything beyond that depends on the horse.

My vet told me light work only for 24 hours and then back to normal. I suppose it depends on what 'normal' work is for the horse - in my case it is nothing too strenuous anyway in winter - 30 to 40 minutes in walk, trot and gentle canter. A couple of days after I was seeing snot from her nose after work, but since she was eating ok and not coughing the vet said to carry on as normal and monitor.

PS - I should add that the light work that we gave within 24 hours consisted of walking around the arena with a very small child, so doesn't really qualify as work I suppose!

what did your vet say?

the advice from my vet was a day off the day after, then perhaps gentle hack the day after if everything OK. Their main advice was not to get them sweaty for the first 24 hours.
Pony was OK so he did have a gentle short lesson on 3rd day after jab and we will gradually build up over a few days. It takes time for the vacc to build up to full strength, hence the 7 days rule.

I have never been given any advice or warning from a vet about this and have generally just carried on as normal. The Beast had a slightly swollen chest this morning from her jab yesterday but otherwise seemed completely fine. But she's not working hard at the moment anyway.

I've checked temperature before and after the booster vaccination (Flu only this time). Both horses had a slight temperature increase 24 hours after injection, 0.7°C and 0.8°C. Back to usual temperature of 37.4°C and 37.5°C the following morning. It has been around the same temperature for the last week, all morning temperatures.
I only do a gentle hack day following vaccination but then back to normal routine.
I've never seen any swellings after vaccinations (neck) on my horses (30+ years).
