Hi
I'm new here!

I was wondering how you juggled horses and competing throughout exam time and coursework. Could you still fit in the competing of one horse and keep it fit?
Any comments on this welcome :)

Yeah, I could and did earlier this year. I went straight after school to ride and then when I got home after I would have tea and then do any homework or coursework I got. This meant that I had at least 1 day on the weekend I could compete. When the revision came, I would ride in the morning, and then revise in the afternoon. Followed this schedule up until my exams, where I would do the exam(s), revise in between the morning and afternoon one and then ride after the last exam I had, and then revise afterwards. Was quite hard work, but am predicted all As and A*s, so it is possible. :D

Yh definately, I rode mine nearly everyday and competed at least once a month, it's not too bad as long as you plan in advance and make sure you know what work you have to get done for school and what needs to be done with your horse

I did it a year ago and got all A's and A*'s

:D

Hi! :D

When I did my GCSE's, I had one horse, with whom I evented 'til May, and kept her fit, and then started competing after my last exam. I actually found that I had alot of study leave, and that riding one horse (often more) each day, left me lots of time to revise.

This year I had my AS's and kept 2 fit, and another ticking over. For my A levels I plan to have 2 competition fit (and competing up to a certain date, and then start competing again after my last exam), but hopefully with the options I am taking, I will only have 2 exams.

I found that riding one each day, helped me stress less over the exams, and made me think about something else. I found 3 hard with my AS's though.

hi

i did it (about 10 years ago now!!!) and managed fine, competed BSJA some hunter trials and RC team, about every weekend and got good results in exams. BUT, i had a brilliant horsy mum that wold help when required- like cleaning my tack the night before whilst i studied etc. plus i had an ace pony that was always fit, even if she hadn't been ridden for a few days and she knew her job inside out

Nearly the same as me, except i would revise in morning till lunch then spend afternoon with horses and then more revison in the evening!!

Get my results on the 24th  x

Also welcome to the forum x

Hi - definitely possible.
My daughter did GCSEs this year and carried on competing and represented the PC in teams and at area.
It was easy, just get your mum to do all the fittening work, day to day grooming, poo picking etc. Then you just need to turn up for training - get your mum to listen carefully so that she can carry on any work needed. Your mum can wash and plait your horse and clean your tack and boots the day before the competition and that way you will get plenty of rest so you can focus on your revision and exams. See easy ;)
This really is what happened this summer.

I agree- definately possible. I kept 2 and competed 1 throughout my GCSes, A Levels and Uni. Kept at home and stabled so fitted in all stable duties etc too.

It worked- I'm a teacher now :)

I competed al the way thru my GCSEs A levels and university... did OK... infact even rode in a dressage comp the day before my Med school finals... and still passed. The secret is not to leave the revision til the last minute!

I did it. Must admit, I didn't compete much but I rode as often as usual. You need a break from your revision anyway. I spent most of my exam leave at the yard and still passed all of mine!
