Hello All,
i currently have a pair of mark todd yard boots, they are lovley and i have had them since september, they are quite bulky although fine to ride in. Latley, since the yard has been knee deep in mud, i dont really like riding in them! and would like to treat my self to some nice looking riding boots i can change into.
I really like the look of the Ariat johdpur boots with zip up the front.. although there are so many diffrent types! does anyone have any? how are they to ride in? generous sizing? worth the money?
They would be a investment for me:eek: and maybe i'll ask for matching chaps for my birthday or something just in case a miracle happens ad i start showing.
Does anyone have any other recomendations? dont mind if there long or short i have a budget of £150.
Thanks guys:)

I love my ariats so much I have now a collection of 3 lots of boots going!

I have the ariat bromonts H2O to ride in for shows and lessons. They are waterproof and insulated but too nice for me to get muddy. They are used in summer too and don't make my feet hot during summer months but keep my feet toasty in winter.

I have the ariat glaciers for everyday use. I can ride in them, trudge round the mud, ice, snow etc and they are still waterproof and insulated so again dry warm toasty feet. Not cleaned them as yet after a good few months other than to hose off as I leave the yard and they still waterproof!

I have for best the ariat conistons which can be ridden in or for yard. Too nice to be used in winter so saving for summer.

I did get changed into my H2O's before riding and did get very fed up of having to lug the boots out of car boot, out of protective bag to change to ride and change again when getting back. So the glacier were bought so I could use for yard and ride and save the H2O's for best.

They aren't cheap to buy but certainly worth the money. I just waited for sales to come up and got them in sales.

Good luck in your search for the right boot!

I use Ariat short zip up boots (no idea what ones as had them a couple years now!) for lessons and competing (wear them with leather gaiters for comps and chaps for lessons/home) and they're supremely comfortable. I adore them and will not wear my long competition boots while I still have them!

I like the Bromonts but they tend to have a lot of problems with the laces, and also they look scruffy fairly quickly. My trainer looks after hers really well but the leather never shines :(

OH and I both have a pair of ariat Devon Pro short boots (the ones with the zip up the front). Mine are 10 years old and still going strong - used to wear them 6 days a week for work in a feed merchant. OH has a black pair and gaiters instead of long boots and they look really smart.

Ariat's customer service is great too from what I remember from work, not that I've ever had any problems with mine. the sizes aren't generous, but they aren't small either. I normally take an 8 and the devon pro's are an 8 1/2 I think to let me get thick socks on!

so highly recommended it's untrue!

They are super comfy, really supportive around ankles and very hard wearing...and polish up beautifully! I have two pairs at the mo :D

Definitely worth the money, I could wear mine all day long!!!

Blimey there are more ariat queens like me!!! Lol

I have ariat wellies which are lovely and warm and very substantial. Ariat short boots and chaps - really comfy to ride in. Love them!! And I have ariat shoes I wear to work - they're kind of a cross between trainers and walking boots and soooo comfy

I also have my ariat coat that I love :) :)

Yes they are expensive - but I definitely think they are worth it :)

Ariat Bromonts H2O's which get used for EVERYTHING mucking out field mud wading occasional riding lol and Ariat welleies which are outstanding for when I have jeans on

I had to snigger at keeping bromonts in a protective bag for best and shows - mine get shown the saddle soap before a public outing and always come up fab despite the trails I have put them through !

I have chocolate Bromonts for everyday (put them on just to ride in though!)
Ariat short Bromonts (laced) for paddock boots (into field, mucking out etc) - SO warm and supportive!
Black Bromonts for dressage / lessons (live in horsebox!)
And am coveting a pair of WIndermeres to replace my Tuffa Suffolks when the y finally (after nearly 4 years!) die. Although I do LOVE the Suffolks.....

I love my ariat joddie boots - I have the laced ones as they are more adjustable and wear them with their close contact half chaps. Really, really comfy once they've been worn in and last a good 4-5 years if you look after them.

I love Ariats but they never last on me as i'm hard on my shoes. My short jods last 6 months MAX before the leather starts to go where your foot bends but even after the leather goes, I still wear them with the extra "ventilation". That's why i only buy the jod boots when they are on sale as i know they won't make a year on me.

Size wise, I find they are quite generous! I'm an 8 but i can fit into the 7, 7.5 and the 8.5 (Ariat doesn't make an 8 for some reason) all equally fine although I prefer the width of the 7 and 7.5 as I find the 8.5 a bit wide for my foot. It's handy fitting into all three sizes as then I can buy whatever is left in the shop, lol.

All of my various boots are Ariat, I love them!

I've got Grasmeres for yard use/hacking, I worship them! They're so fab, warm and waterproof and comfy to ride in too.
Bromont H2O for competition, again nice and warm and comfy. I have found that so many boots rub (Brogini killed like a b**ch!) but these have always been so comfortable, and look smart too.
I've also got the Quantum Devon Pro for general riding, and then the Close Contact chaps (I think its those, I get so confused they all look the same!). Again, I would thoroughly recommend. No problems whatsoever and totally worth the money, they last ages.

Basically, I'm a massive Ariat fan - I literally do not buy anything else anymore!

Another vote! They are the only boots that I dont wreak too quickly (current pair have lasted 2 years - previous record was 6 months held by my old tredstep irelands). Also they are comfortable from the word go and you dont spend weeks limping round with blisters trying to break them in :)

Thanks guys
for comments and help!
I'm just off to have a browse on there website...
After some serious mucking out today, I've decided they will only be used for riding!
I mainly hack with occasional schooling(nothing fancy), I've yet to go to a show but getting my own ponio is all hanging up in there air at the moment so there's a possibility of me doing some local shows in future with hope of moving on-wards and upwards!
Off to have a browse now...
I will be back:D

Think you can see from everyone they are great, I love mine have the Bromonts and the short ones, the chaps are fantastic as well. I take a 4 and that is the size of boot which fits fine, well worth the money.

I had the lace up Devon Pro's, and the zip ups....Brilliant boots, but I didn't find them very warm in the winter. Very smart for competitions though.
I now wear Ariat Tellurides, with half chaps and I have no problems with cold feet at all.

I love ariats, I have the devon pro cobalt something or other chocolate short boots and close contact chaps which are amazing, and some long bromonts. I disagree they never shine, I saddle soap mine regularly and if I go anywhere I use black shoe polish and they can be polished to a very high gloss finish with a bit of effort. Ariat's customer service is also second to none, they replaced my year-old bromonts with no fuss when the zip broke.

Ditto all of the above!

I have the lace up short boots and Oxford half chaps (which they don't do any more :( ) Does anyone know which would be the nearest replacements?

I LOOOOOVE them and wouldn't have any others for 'main' riding )hacking and schooling) (although I have some cheap synthetic ones for when it's very wet/muddy or snowy).

I agree with the comment about customer service, too. They fixed a popper that 'popped off' last year, even though the chaps were over a year old and I have just contacted them again as the poppers have popped off again (my fault, I reckon) - and they said they will fix them again for free (must be 2 years old by now) - very helpful. :D

Thanks for replies!:)
Even thou they are expensive they seem to be worth it!
I have my long (very durable!but quite heavy weight)Mark Todd boots, for yard duties and bad weather rides, but have now decided to treat myself a christmas present of
"Dear Chloe, Merry Christmas Love your iccle pony foxy xx" < yes my pony can write, and buy pressies!:D:rolleyes:
As much as i adore the Ariat Bromonts, they would be wasted on me as i've yet to do any competing and they are beautiful! if and when i do start some serious competition(not that i will ever be good enough!) i will invest!:D
But for now i'm going with a pair of there jodhpur boots.
Which would you go for?:

I have a short pair. Have them two years still going strong but will def be getting another pair when they're done. Also bought the leather chaps to go with and a pair of their other chaps which are really really comfortable. Have had the chaps two years, have ridden upto 7 horses a day in them and they are still in good condition. Thoroughly recommend!
