Currently looking for a new pair of Riding boots for competing, but I can't decide and have turned to you lovely lot of reccomendations!
I buggered up my ankle a few years back after deciding to be clever and tried landing on my feet (never again. Stop, drop and roll guys!!) So something that offers decent ankle support ie. Nothing flimsy!
I mainly show(county - maxi cob & ROR. The latter obvs not with the cob, although he thinks hes permanently running at aintree) and dressage with unaff sj'ing and arena eventing over the winter do i dont lose the will to live.
Ideally want one pair, as the ex racer likes to ensure my bank account is empty....
So let's have your recommendations!

Thank you in advance ☺️

I've never thought of doing that 🤔 not sure im brave enough. Knowing my luck id end up with a pair of boots that look like they've been hacked up with a bread knife 😂

I once treated myself to a pair of made to measure Petrie boots - or rather that was the intention! Somehow the saddler transposed some/all measurements, and the boots when they arrived were completely wrong - they were shaped like funnels and we're half the required height. So bizarre, I can't imagine what they must have thought when they were making them!

Anyway, apart from the fact that they were completely the wrong size, they were beautifully made, so I'd recommend maybe looking at their off-the-peg boots. Or Cavallo do really nice bits as well. 😊

I've got Ego7 boots now which I love. Lots of sizes off the shelf to fit. They're not straight cut - but it's literally only the showing world that wears straight cut and they look pretty funny out doing anything else. I don't think there are any brands doing straight cut boots with a nice snug ankle in existence... Wore my Ego7s to compete for several months this winter whilst harbouring a pretty significant ankle ligament injury and the support was good 👍 👍

Cavallo boots are beautiful and really well made. Can get their off the shelf ones for less than a pair of Ariats and do loads of different sizes so fit really well or can splash out a bit more and get some custom made fancier ones
