In my learning to ride adventure there have been good days and oh so awful nothing rhymes days. Yesterday was a good day. In fact it was a penny dropping breakthrough day.
There had been a couple of things I'd struggled with in canter. Namely keeping my seat still in the saddle as one of the horse's I learn on has a big fast canter so I would lose contact and this in turn just made him go faster. Yesterday, oh joy of joys, I finally cracked it. The magic ingredient was keeping my upper body upright and controlling my middle better.
Result =Beautifully balanced steady canter :D
I though I had been sitting correctly but it would appear not :o
I finished the lesson doing a canter without stirrups on mr speedy who we've never dared to do anything more than trot with previously without stirrups because of his tendency to not stop when asked:eek::eek: I now feel that I have finally overcome one of my big issues :)
I know have more bloody awful riding days but I will keep on keeping on.
Thank you for reading and anyone else struggling with similar issues bear in mind that improvements do come and sometimes when least expected. :D
