I just wanted to post a little update on the Riding Buddies facebook page.
Just under three months ago, someone was looking for another person to ride out with. It was a rainy (how unusual!
) Monday afternoon in October, and I had a few spare minutes on my hands. So, I set up a facebook page to connect potential riding buddies. It started with people posting their locations on the page. This soon became unmanageable due to the number of posts, so I set up a map and everyone who has posted their location has a pin with a link through which they can be contacted.
Little did I realise how it would take off. We now have more than 730 followers, and almost 200 locations posted on the map.
I know that loads of these supporters are from HHO and I just wanted to post a heart felt 'Thank you'. So many people have found new friends to ride with, and this is only the beginning as heading into winter is hardly the time to be getting out and about.
If anyone else is interested, the link to the page is:
http://www.facebook.com/RidingBuddies
Please like, share and post on the page if you are interested in finding new people to ride out with. BUT please, if you do arrange to meet up with someone, then be sensible as you hopefully would any time you meet someone you only know through the internet.
Lastly a message to any potential button pushers: this isn't advertising as it isn't for financial gain, but just a facebook page set up for people to use to find others to hack with in their area.
