A silly question but does anyone know if dressage tests held under RC rules rather than BD rules allow you to have a whip of any length? I know that under BD rules you can have any length but am taking one of mine to a RC dressage and wasn't sure if the same applies?

I cant find the info anywhere! many thanks

Have a look on the schedule - if it is run under BD rules (which RC normally is) you can have a whip of any length as long as it doesnt interfere with other riders.

Many thanks Gummybear- thats exactly as I thought although havent been to an RC show for ages -however oddly enough I don't think that the dressage is not being held under BD rules even though I would imagine that most rc's aff to the BRC run under BD rules! very confusing, dont think I'll chance taking my super long whip then!

Depends on how long "super long" is. Have a look on the britihs riding clubs website, see if there are any details about rules on there. If not, Im sure you could give someone at the BRC office a call and they could confirm for you.

RC adapted the BD rule when BD put a restriction on it. BD then scrapped the rule, but RC kept it, so you have to be under 110cm. Luckily I bought one to meet the new BD rule so I just have to remember to use that one for RC comps as my one I use at home is a bit longer.
