Riding club show jumping rules

Can anyone clarify the faults for show jumping according to the riding club rules. I understand 4 faults for the first fence down or a refusal, then 8 faults for the second fence down. Is that cummulative ie 2 fences down 12 faults? If so what happens if a third fence comes down? I am a bit confused.

They use the standard SJ penalties, 4 faults for each fence down it does not increase just adds up as you go, 4 faults for the first refusal, 8 for the second refusal, NOT fence down, elim for the third refusal or for a fall.

You may be confusing fences down with refusals. Refusals are cumulative. e.g. 1st refusal 4 faults. 2nd refusal 8 faults. Total 12 faults.
