I am in a team qualifier on the 14th June, and my horse's annual booster is due on the 16th. I had originally booked the vet for the 11th, but looking at the rules my horse can not have his injection in the 7 days preceding the event. So I'm understanding that it will be ok to re-book the vet for the 15th instead? There is no rule about how close you are to the annual booster? Sounds complicated so I hope I make sense!

I would say phone BRC as their vaccinations rules are nuts adn you are netter checking with them as the boss!! My friend was 1 day out and they wouldn't let her compete - best to check for defo!

I would defo check with them, would be a total bummer if you think you are doing the right thing and they say it dosent complie with the rules

BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN KICKING YOUR SELF FOR BEING BOOTED OUT OVER SOMETHING SILLY :p

Hi Reashi,

I'd actually get your vaccination done asap. Like Monday! The rule means that any vaccination has to be done prior to the previous 7 days. While vets have a very realistic view about vaccinations, RC + JC rules apply and enforce strict deadlines, which sometimes appear to be totally barking.

It's also worth thinking about your horse. Mine never seem 'quite themselves' after what is, in effect, a flu dose injected directly into their system, + i certainly wouldn't compete them during this time, no matter what my vet says to the contrary.

Get the vacc done asap, give him 3 days off, see how he is, then tell us how well you did in team qualifier!

Good luck, BS x

Get it done earlier. If you are any days late at all they will not let you compete. I've known horses to be refused entry at the Riding Club Nationals.

I'd go for early too. The rules are a nightmare. I was recently checking vacc cards for our RC teams, and had to tell a new person that theirs was 'out' by 7 days back in 2004, so would have to restart!!!

get it done asap as long as you leave 7days between the vaccine and the competition. dont leave booking it till day before it's due in case pony isnt well and cant have it. then you'd have to restart whole course.
