I have a young show horse who I want to get out and get settled over the winter. Can anyone suggest any good riding clubs around the Windsor area preferably within an hours drive.

We are looking to compete/take part in all disciplines, but I have never been a member of a riding club before. Im guessing there is a wider variety of activities that will suit a novice horse, I know that BSJA is too much for this little horse at the minute even british novice!!!

Hiya,

I've been a member of TVRC for a few years but quite a few of us found it was getting too big and too much aimed at the higher-level competitor. A lot of people at our yard (and people we new) had novice or 'baby' horses or were generally quiet nervous riders. So we set up our own riding club this year and we've just got our BHS affiliation.

We're running all our events and training at Rosehill in Henley at the moment (about half an hour from Windsor). We had our first dressage comp on Sunday which went very well and was nice and low-key.

We're running training at least once a month, alternating dressage and SJ with some XC too. We've chosen very good, sympathetic instructors with experience of young hroses.

Anyway, enough of my rambling! If you want any more details of a membership form then feel free to PM me. We've got a website www.riverloddenridingclub.co.uk but it's only just up and running so very basic for now!

Also, Windsor Forest Riding Club is supposed to be nice, I know some people from there and most of their events are at Merrist Wood in Guildford.

I live in Windsor too btw... where abouts are you based?
