My neice is 2 years old and seems to have caught the horsey bug! In particular, she is desperate for a riding hat despite not riding (don't think mum is too keen to put her on a real horse!). I remember when I was little I had a pretend riding hat that I wore to ride my rocking horse :o and have been searching high and low for similar to no avail.
Any ideas?

If that plan fails I would like to buy her something horsey so any recommendations from horsey mums of what your child just LOVES?

Harry hall do tiny hats, or they did a few years ago, & lots of others do too. Robinsons do jods in age 2, mine loved hers. First jodpur boots were size 7/8. And mine had a tiny pair of cuddly ponies chaps at that age she adored. And a tiny grooming kit that came in a little bag with child size brushes. Luvponies.com is good for presents if you haven't seen it. Carrotsuk.com has a cute kids range too.

Tescos have the new style ones that are adjustable. They are light as well so even if she never goes on a pony, she could use it for riding a bike etc.
You could try ebay though, to ee if they have a 'decorative' hat she could wear? Or if that fails - - what about making her one from Papermache and velvet?

I really wanted a lightweight pretend/dress up riding hat rather then a real one as she has no contact with horses (mum isn't keen!).

I like the idea of papermache and velvet but would probably make it the wrong size! :p

Maybe just have to stick with toy horses!
