Can anyone recommend clothing or brands for boys? My son is 9 and I'm hoping to get him out and about this coming season round the local shows. Our local tack shop is full of girly pink and diamante entrusted everything. Ok he loves a sparkly and he lusts after patent long boots (especially the red dublin ones) but there are limits and only so much longer I can try to squeeze him in to jods for rake skinny wee girls :D

Boys stuff is pants ;) Mark Todd do some good breeches but apart from that I really haven't found a great deal for my son (now 13) He tends to wear just what is comfortable and what fits. He quite often takes my stuff (boots and chaps). My riding jacket, gillets etc. It would be lovely to have the range of choice that the girls have

We take my nephew to Decathlon for a lot of his riding gear (he's 11 now) they still have a fair bit of girly stuff but it is a more boy friendly environment and they do have "normal" colours etc. The uni-sex junior jodhs are good and come in black/brown/navy/grey/beige. Their stuff is pretty cheap too which is great for growing boys!

It is also easy to mix and match horsey gear with non-horsey. My nephew has jodhs, boots, gloves and helmet from horsey brands but tends to wear non-horsey tops and coats.

He loves Joules but for casual wear, it is too expensive to wear round the horses!

Generally it is only really Jodhs that are difficult as boots are virtually the same for girls and boys, the choice just starts to reduce when you go over a size 7. Hats are pretty much unisex.

My OH rides too and is always moaning about the lack of choice in riding clothes for men so I know where you are coming from, it is a shame that more manufacturers don't offer decent men's wear.
