Riding gear in South Yorkshire

Am fairly certain Horse and Rider no longer exists at Crookes. Parklands sale starts this weekend so you may bag a bargain! Sadly I am away. Throstle Nest also has some fabulous stuff as has been said.

Yes, Horse & Rider has closed in Crookes nearly 2 years ago from what l've just read up - had no idea they'd gone used to be a nice shop but not been for years as l used Parklands as l used to be livery there but tend to use mail order or go to horse trails for my shopping nowadays :)

Where abouts in a yorks are you? There is Milner and son close to Doncaster town centre and the retford saddlery in north notts has some good quality gear!

rideaway at York is worth the journey [see their web site ]------------ I was told last week a new one has opened in Rotherham but I cant remember its name ------------also one at newmillerdam [between Barnsley and wakefield ]

Throstle Nest is great. Lovely, helpful staff, quality kit and good prices & if they haven't got what you want, will order it in.

Horse and Rider shop is most definitely closed (shame,as also were lovely people and prices were often better than any Internet ones) but I understood that they still run their online/Internet shop side of the business?

Thomas Irving is also good, lots of stock and again, quality kit but the customer service is not as good or as personal as Throstle Nest and Irvings is always, always more expensive for the exact same product than T Nest. Irvings do however, have a large feed merchants as part of their store,so that's v handy.

Parklands will get stuff in if you want it ordering, tho they are a much smaller shop (within a riding school) but I haven't shopped there often(as further from me,geographically) so can't comment further.

For boots Throstlenest are good, and Irvings (my fave store in the area) is well worth the trip. Parklands sale is next weekend (11-12th), Horseflair at Parkgate has a sale on this weekend.
