Okeedokee folks. I'm after 2 pairs of gloves; one to replace a much-loved-but-now-full-of-holes crotchet and leather pair and another 'smarter' pair for shows. All-leather ones are too hot for here, so I was hoping to find a sort of fabric and leather pair similar to the ones I've got which were cheap (under £10 i think) but have been great.
Have looked on eBay but the range is huuuge, so a) how much should I expect to pay b) can anyone suggest any reputable brands?
Also, how much do Stubben string girths generally retail for? (as a guide)
Thanks

Roeckl gloves are very good but we found a problem with the ones we bought. They had a palm that had like bobbles on them for grip. Unfortunately my daughter rode with rubber reins and within just a few sessions there were holes appearing in the palms & fingers.......I went back to the shop & as soon as they saw the gloves they knew exactly what the problem was......moral of the story is ....they are good but only with leather reins. Possibly they do gloves without the bobbles?

I paid I think £20 for a Stubben string girth off Ebay. Super girth.

The ONLY gloves I compete in are SSL ones. Which I think must be from Shires? But I cant find them on their website so am not sure.....! I remember they made a diamante version (diamante on the cuff bit) but mine are just the plain ones. Really lovely soft gloves and very non-bulky ( I HATE bulky gloves!). Darn it, if only I could remember what they are!!

My Stubben string was also £25 from HOYS, cant remember which retailler but qute a few people stock them. If you do a search for the Stubben site you should be able to either order one or find a stockist.

Chap local to us does them so if you get stuck let me know and I can always post you one.

If you are looking for gloves that are good in the heat I REALLY recommend ones I got recently - the Mac Wets. Jockeys use them which is not the reason I got them - I tried on a pair and that was that! It's hard to describe but they are backed with a kind of mesh fabric which is so kind on your knuckles as other gloves tend to feel uncomfortable when you close your fingers.

They are incredibly light too, so great in the heat, you get a really close feel on the rein, AND you can pop them in the washing machine. The only thing is the price: they cost around £30 - but given you can wash them so easily (they come up well every time) that they are well worth it.
