Riding Hat Question

As of now, I have this hat:

I have only had it since I sold my horse a couple of years ago, and before that I had a skull cap. Now, I seem to remember hearing somewhere that to do any xc I need a proper skull cap - is that correct?

Is there a particular spec it has to have? Thanks!

The pony club doesn't allow this hat and no, it can't be used for XC either.

I assume it is fine for use in competition outside the pony club though?

I think you can't have a fixed peak for XC, not sure why. Maybe in case it breaks in a fall and causes further injury? But it probably varies depending on what rules you compete under.

Many events will go along with the PC rule though, so it's best checking.

Are we talking "events" events or shows here? I would be really not happy if I'd bought a hat to ride and SJ with that I couldn't.

Will be buying a skull cap I guess incase I go xc, but I don't want to have to buy another normal riding hat too

You could always buy a skull cap, and get a valvet cover so you can use it for sj?

It would meet the specification for Riding CLubs showing, dressage and SJ as they don't have to be PAS0015

Fine for everything except XC - you prob wouldn't even be permitted to go XC schooling with it, depends where you go.

By events I mean hunter trials/ xc part of ODEs. Basically if you intend to do any sort of xc comp then you will have to buy a skull cap.

You're not allowed to have a fixed peak at all for cross country competitions / schooling, you'll need to buy a skull cap!

Really? thats pants....... I just bought my first fixed peak hat ever........... anyone got the "official" reason why?

It's in case the peak actually causes you damage as it will break upon impact.
