Now, I am fully aware I am fat and a larger rider - don't need that pointed out.

But.........I wanted to know if you can tell anything about my seat from the pics on my other thread. There are more on my FB(you would need to follow the pic URL)

After having baba, all my muscles are still gone, and I am not 100% sure how I am riding as I am REALLY not aware what my body is doing (never really had much awareness of left leg).

Cheers,

You don't look that bad. You do have the same problem as me in that your bottom is a bit big for your saddle (I nearly died when I realised why I couldn't sit up as much as I wanted).

I expect your seat will improve once you loose your bubu fat and get back into the swing of things.

As for riding light or heavy I wouldn't want to comment too much as its the way you move with the horse so a photo isn't all that great to try and tell these things from.

Sorry its not much to go on but as no one else had commented thought it would at least bump you back up!

If you find any good botty reducing excersises please let me know!!! I am trying to persuade myself to cycle to work!

Yeah, the buba fat needs to go, but it is not shifting :(. I am now wishing I still had my fat arsed 18" saddle. I seem to feel that I can sit more in canter and sitting trot - but that is possibly only as me ass is consuming the saddle haha!

At least you have a bubu to blame the fat on. I don't think Mars bars is really a good enough excuse!

I was out riding and just couldn't get myself comfortable and striaght it was driving me mad as I felt as though I was being pushed forward all the time... Went past a window placed rather conveiantly to act as a mirror only to see my bum was in the way!

I really must do something about it and then get some lunge lessons. The extra has really thrown my balance off and I just can't sit as nicely as I want to. I don't mind being a bit tubby but its got a bit much in recent years.

I would love to know how bigger people do it. There was a girl I knew who, to put it mildly, was short and fat. There really is no nice way to discribe it but when she rode the horses seemed to float. They loved her style and she could do things that many of us couldn't even if she did have to climb a mountain of a mounting block to get on! She was amazing to watch.

I used to feel "lighter" in the saddle, more mobile and not as "frumpy" when I was a bit skinnier. Oh to be a size 14 again! These days I feel as though my thighs are in the way and I can't get my backside under me.

As PD said you can't really see how you're riding from those pics, would need to see a vid but your horse doesn't look at all bothered does he!

I would say you'd probably find a bigger saddle easier if your horse could take one. I'm only a size 10/12 but have big gangly legs and find that riding in anything less than a 17 1/2 " saddle and preferrably an 18" makes a huge difference to my riding.

Strangely, I feel that I am boucing LESS with more weight, and so i think in sitting trot its easier on his back as I can move with him more. Before when I was thinner I was a fitness freak, and I think I was too muscly on my legs and they were inclined to clamp together - and thus the clothes peg effect.

I even managed a no sitrrups canter last night. I feel more balanced in general. Just I am unsure of my seat at the moment. I only do the odd potter anyway now. Nothing serious as we have no school :(. I also dont think my weight affects him much, as he has never complained and has a short back and he is 14 and can pass for 8 apparently - but that might just be hisbehaviour!

Its done it again.

I write a lovely rambling long winded reply and the darned internet crashes and looses all those lovely things I said!

So I will be quick

1. Your not too "fat" for your horse - (s)he is clearly not struggling in any shape or form so forget all about that!
2. I am jealous - I feel less secure but then I was able to relax all my muscles as and when I wanted and had very good control over them when I was fit... I don't want to be any smaller than a 14 again as I don't like being skinny but a 14 is just about right I think to do the things I want and stay fit with out going all Kate Moss... I think I am dreaming for the time being!!!
3. Even when I would go to competitions (very long time ago) I wouldn't school in an arena. it was all done out on hacks, doing quick bits of the test in various fields, the whole thing once a week in the paddock but the best schooling was out and about. The one time I did get stressing and marked out a school in the paddock my old boy decided enough was enough, jumped the fence and took me off for a lovely hack and a paddle! My horse gives me good advice!

Sorry its so snappy! Wanted to get back to you before this thing gives up the ghost again!
