Daughter would like to go on a riding holiday, possibly in Eastern Europe. As she will be going on her own, she would prefer to go for about 4 days instead of a week. She would also like it if there were some youngish riders!

Any recommendations?

Years ago H&H had a travel feature, the journalist went to Romania and rode Shagya Arabians. No links but perhaps they have details on archive. You can visit the Hungarian National Stud at Babolna and ride a Shagya as well as enjoy carriage rides. They have their own hostel on the stud but are not good at answering emails.

You could try posting on Shagyer Araber News FB site a few eastern european members.

What a lovely idea, I'd love to do that. Depending on what she's interested in, I'm pretty sure that the Lipica stud (where Lipizzaners originally came from) in Slovenia has riding holidays and a Lipizzaner- themed hotel on site too. They offer trail riding as well as more intensive courses.

I went to Croatia a couple of years ago on my own and loved it, I booked through unicorn trails on their istria land & sea ride. It is for a full week as it's a trail ride so you can't come or go at different times but I couldn't recommend it more. I was 25 when I went, there were only 4 of us plus the guides but we were all fairly young, I think the oldest was 33 but it obviously varies. It's a beautiful country, the food was amazing and the horses were great.

At the end of april, i am off on a riding holiday in croatia (also on my own) im going to the old mulberry estate which is near zagreb. Im doing the full week but i think they also do a flexible stay where you can ride as much/little as you want. I booked through far and ride. Can definitely Recommend them. Holly from far and ride comes on here

There are several companies who offer riding holidays in Romania, Hungry, etc. You can talk to someone who has already been. Some holidays are from Saturday to Saturday, others are more flexible.

As well as Unicorn Trails and Far and Ride there is In The Saddle plus more.
