I'm trying to come up with some ideas for a holiday in july, and would like to do some riding, along with non-horsey things. Not bothered about location (could go worldwide) so long as the weather is nice

Has anyone been on any amazing riding holidays? Or got any links to good websites?

Yes, me and my sister went to Scotland to a place called Ferniehirst Mill riding centre in Jedeburgh.

Its an adults only riding place - do lessons but mainly suited to competent adults for long hacks, we went on a 2 day break and stayed 3 nights, the horses was well behaved, very fit - we rode both days for 4-5 hours each day saw some amazing views etc.

The place is also a b&b and part of the holiday included the food - evening meals home made and absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommend it there - we hope to go again and take our horses this time (when they are fitter!!)

Type ferniehirstmill.co.uk in and have a look.

Los Alamos in Andulucia. Run by an english, knowledgeable family with fabulous forward going horses. Riding 5 hours a day in the national forest and across trafalgar bay with africa on the horizon. Have been far too many times to count. Can't recommend it enough!

Ok this is an unashamed plug for my friend Marissa who owns the Drapia Horse Farm in Cyprus.

I used to live at the farm and keep my horse there and the riding is awsome, from 2 hour rides to entire day's riding high into the mountains with views of the sea stunning. Horses are beautifally kept and wonderful to ride you can choose western or English saddle all horse go well in both. They cater to all abilities and both Marissa and Claudia are great fun people.

Nearby you have wonderful beaches the Troodos Mountains nightlife or you can hire a cottage in a smalll village and make like a local for the entire break.

Great thing about Cyprus is you get too springs Feb - April and September to November

If I had not met my wonderful OH I would very much still be there!

Last year we took the kids to Dartmoor and I escaped and rode every day Babeny Stables, lovely mix of horses, you ride out of the yard straight onto Dartmoor wonderful instructors and if you are experienced believe me you will get an eperienced ride.
