I'm sure there can't be a rule against this and horses do change shape etc as they mature. But at Royal Windsor the HH write up says:-

Reserve went to the locally-based Bardo/Webber team with the Stennett’s lightweight runner-up, Time 2 Reflect, who recently claimed the riding horse title at Keysoe.

If this horse was a RH that recently I fail to see how it becomes a Hunter by Windsor? They ought to be different types after all.

Anyone have any views, I have no connection with anyone in these classes so not sour grapes!

They are very close in type - depends on what each judge likes. It is not unusual. Sirius, who was champion at RIHS etc as a riding horse, was also a prolific winner of hunter classes and placed at HOYS etc, The horse is a 5 year old and is yet to mature fully at which point it will probably become more obvious which category suits her best. She is a lovely horse though!

Thats interesting - my horse does well in ridden horse, coming 1st or 2nd, and also in hunter classes, coming around 4th, but when I've qualified for championships at local level, judges have said not to bother doing the championships as she is too chunky for ridden horse and too light for hunter. We've done WH championships at local level and she has come 7th out of a big field (30) but she jumps well. Even so she was placed below bigger ID types.

Our local RC had a rule that you can't do both, not sure if they still do. Probably doesn't matter anymore as she has blown her "calm" fuse since she started eventing, so wouldn't do well showing nowadays!

You cannot do both on the same day I think (or something like that) the rules change regularly on what cross over horses are allowed to do. With a younger horse it really is not unusual for them to be both for a period of time.
