im entering a riding horse class in a few weeks and i dont know what to wear !! or my horse ?? dont want to look silly so advice please ! i guess tweed jacket and cream jods - what bit do i put my horse in browband etc..............:confused::confused:

I am no showing expert so can only tell you what I've used in the ring. I always use beige jodhpurs and you can wear a hacking jacket or a showing jacket. Horse-wise, I either went with a brown or black numnah, but usually no numnah at all. Flashy browbands are generally used and depending on which horse I was riding, I either used a snaffle bride or a double. Hope this helps and enjoy the class. Ooh, one more thing, keep your show simple. Walk forward to the judge before you begin, they have a good look, might ask you a question or two. Walk in a straight line away from the judge and then show trot and canter on each rein with a gallop to finish. Halt back near the judge, salute and go back to your place.

Judges hate shows that go on forever or that show un-necessary movements. HTH xx

You need: Tweed jacket, pale blue or cream shirt with tie and tie pin, navy velvet hat with flesh coloured straps and hairnet, beige or cream jodphurs, long black leather boots, brown gloves and cane.

Horse needs: Brown cavesson bridle with flat noseband, velvet browband and pelham or double. Brown straight cut saddle with no numnah or a discrete brown one. You also need to do quarter marks and sharks teeth on it's bum.

This is the ideal and if you are buying new what I would recommend but if you are at local leeway is given.

Good luck.
