I am plunging into the world of showing and need help with deciding what to wear,

I have a gold and bottle green brow band and button hole, dark bay horse, brown leather double bridle, show saddle, using a rugby pelham, no numnah and have a lovely leather girth to top it off.

Main dilemma is me!

I have nice pair of cream/light canary jods
Cavallo boots
Navy show jacket
Tweed Jacket-

Brown Gloves
Navy Show hat
brown show cane

At the moment I am just a bit torn between, what colour tie to go for, colour shirt, which jacket to choose, whether to stick with the brown cane or go for black, whether to stay with the green/gold combo or tie the brow and button in with something navy and red...

I am officially nervous as hell, I don't show normally!

Any suggestions?

Oh and my new saddle doesnt have slits in it for the stirrup leathers... numpty question here but is this normal and what do I do about it?!

I am normally not such a dunce but, really don't want to stick out like a sore thumb!

Sounds great :D

One of our saddles doesn't have slits either, we dont use them anyway.

Would go for the tweed jacket with a cream shirt. Tie colour doesn't matter as there are no other colours in the tweed. Go for something which suits you.

Enjoy :D :D

I was hoping someone would say tweed and cream (I think it will stand out a bit more) I was also thinking either a green tie to match the horse or a blue to tie into the jacket/hat etc...

What class are you doing?

Unless you are riding Hack or a Riding Pony, then you should wear:

Tweed jacket
Shirt and Tie
Beige / Buff / Cream / Canary breeches
Brown gloves
Navy velvet hat
Long black boots
Spurs (or dummy spurs)
Cane

Horse should be in either a pelham or a double, with a straight cut saddle with a leather girth and plain browband (hunter types) or velvet browband (riding horse/Hack).

Never ever a buttonhole, unless it's an evening performance when a very subtle and discreet button hole is acceptable.

Good luck with your class.
