We've just bought a round pen, and i hasn't yet arrived, but can i canter and jump in a round pen? If the jump is in the centre?
Its 50ft, oh and do horses bolt in round pens? Coz mine does in the Arena,
:) xxxx

My horse is Western trained and I do a lot of schooling in the round pen (ours is a 20m so 60ft) and can certainly lope (canter) in mine easily.

If its a standard sized one its not much more than a 20m circle in diameter, so I wouldn't do too much riding in there, especially at high speed.

Oh, sorry just seen you say its 50ft. Is that its diameter?

I have one 50 ft. don't ride in it though, school at liberty mostly. I don't have high sides on mine like Monty Roberts type, so horse can jump out if too much pressure is applied. She hasn't jumped out yet, so must be doing something right, lol.

Ours is 60', use it daily to ride youngsters, W, T & C, poles on the ground and small jumps. Worth it's weight in gold, but I think 50' might be a little more restrictive, could you not get a couple more panels?
