I've been absolutely spoiled for riding in Surrey, I took it back up here after several years not riding and have had some great lessons at a couple of good riding schools and been lucky to have shared horses as well, plus going to lots of events to watch. However it's time to move back to Bristol and I really would like to keep in touch with riding/horses. Given my ideal solution of cloning my current share horse isn't really an option (gutted!) I'm looking for a good riding school to pick back up lessons and down the line to look at sharing again, or even buying my own (which I have said for the last 2 years...)

I'd love any tips for riding schools (current favourite is Tumpy Green as they seem to have a lot on offer for adult riders), trekking/hacking centres, and any other horsey events/venues to look out for. It would be nice to have some things to look forward to as I am going to really miss my current share when the time comes.

Tynings seem to have a good rep for hacking and not far out- I bought sis a voucher for christmas but she's not been yet. Generally it is quite horsey and there should be good opportunities to share, and if you want to watch stuff you're close to cricklands.

I think I rode with Tynings once years ago but can't remember the ride, just that I have a photo of it - just checked them out and they are definitely on the list to try!

I have occasionally ridden at Tynings , very much a trekking centre not riding school but none the worse for that. Fantastic area to ride,no road work just riding out across Blackdown and through the forestry. Can even encounter the herd of exmoor ponies. Safe ponies, who might not set the world on fire but know their job and are good on the terrain. Staff were very pleasant and friendly .

Not quite my area but Leyland Court is pretty busy with shows and clinics from a watching POV, and they also have a yard attached so may be potential shares?
